Hill Top

Hill Top bedroom

This project focused on enhancing character and atmosphere throughout the home, blending contemporary detailing with warmth and depth.

The en-suite bathroom was designed to feel modern and spa-like, despite its limited footprint. To accommodate both a bath and shower, we created a raised wet room layout, incorporating a freestanding bath and a generous walk-in shower with a recessed head and linear drain for a clean finish. Large-format stone tiles and wood-effect flooring introduce warmth and natural texture, balanced with darker hardware for contrast. Layered lighting, including discreet plinth illumination, creates a soft, ambient glow.

The staircase, previously finished in white gloss, lacked presence. By introducing a rich, deep tone and a striped wool runner, the space now feels bold, welcoming and full of personality, transforming a transitional area into a design feature in its own right.

In the bedroom, the brief called for a comfortable country-house feel. Earthy, layered tones create warmth and refinement, while upholstered elements and soft wall lighting add intimacy. An antique chair was reupholstered to bring texture and character, and patterned curtains were chosen to subtly reference the surrounding landscape. Bespoke wardrobes were designed within the eaves to maximise storage while respecting the architecture of the room. Working within a modest budget, existing details were carefully enhanced rather than replaced, ensuring a thoughtful and cost-effective finish.

Together, these spaces balance comfort with considered detailing.
