Creating a sitting room cosy enough for everyday living, yet spacious enough for entertainment
The brief for this large farmhouse style living room was to create a space that felt earthy, comfortable and quietly rustic. Somewhere cosy enough for everyday living, yet spacious enough for entertainment.
The room was generous in size but previously felt dated and lacking character. To anchor the space, we designed a bespoke built-in unit, painted to match the walls, allowing the television and books to sit seamlessly within the architecture rather than dominate it.
Natural materials were key to warming the room. The flooring was replaced with sisal carpet to introduce texture and a subtle rustic quality, softening the scale of the space. Stronger accent tones were layered through upholstery and accessories to add depth and visual interest, ensuring the scheme felt warm rather than neutral.
The result is a relaxed, grounded interior with a country house feel.
